Nothing says more about the history of the country than its monuments. Today we take you on the road to the forgotten testaments of the greatness of Montenegrin people. See traces of former glory and enjoy a brief encounter with the ghosts of battles past.
Transfer to Žabljak Crnojevića. Explore the abandoned, but picturesque medieval fortress located on the hill overlooking Skadar Lake. Once, the brightest jewel of the Crnojević dynasty, and for centuries a fortified Turkish settlement, now represents a deserted, but inspiring place, with stone walls whispering about their vivid history. Continuing the drive towards Vranjina and crossing the Lake, passing by the Isle of Lesendro with an old fortress, a place dearest to the famous Montenegrin Bishop Njegos.
Lunch will be organised in some of the fisherman villages. Experience Godinje, Murići, Ostros and other authentic villages, reminisce of the days that are way behind us. Remains of the biggest monastery of Skadar Lake area, Prečista Krajinska, will make you wonder what this ancient sacral monument looked like in the XI century when it was constructed. Finally, we’ll explore long deserted, but once Episcopalian city of Svač, which, according to a legend had 365 churches within its walls and in the neighbouring area. It didn’t survive the Mongolian and Ottoman devastation, but today is a great archaeological site, nevertheless. Transfer to the starting point/accommodation.
