Itinerary

Religion was so important in Montenegrin history that every Montenegrin town is studded with the monuments built in the name and for the glory of the Creator. Podgorica is no exception.

Montenegrin religious roots are set very deep and with this tour you’ll get the chance to explore sacral monuments of Podgorica. First, we’ll visit Dajbabe Monastery. This little piece of architectural wonder is embedded in an underground cave. Specific mixture of speleology and frescoes makes this place unique, even though it was constructed not too long ago (late 19th century). After coming out from the caves, we’ll take you to the „lungs of Podgorica“, bottom of Gorica hill where the oldest church in the city is located. It is the only one that remains from the pre-Ottoman era, St. George’s Church (IX-XI century). Finally, we’ll finish this tour by visiting the biggest Orthodox Cathedral in the capital, Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, which was finished in 2013, after 20 years of construction. A monumental building, with beautiful frescoes, golden crosses biggest bells in the Balkans, breath-taking chandeliers, which will inspire nothing but admiration. Enjoy the sacral tour of Podgorica only with MEA.
